Langid

Tykk Cogwhistle

The Langid, raccoon-kin scavengers of Eryndral: Shards of Eternity, evolved from raccoons in the desolate Scraplands of the former Hong Kong ruins, their sleek fur a blend of black, white, and grey, perfectly suited for blending into the shadows of their sprawling, steampunk-style cities. Speaking Ingenix, a language of sharp, chittering syllables, they inhabit large cities where pieced-together buildings—crafted from scavenged materials like rusted metal, shattered glass, and old tech from battle sites and ruins—rise in a chaotic blend of functionality and ingenuity. Every three years, they elect leaders like Kael Scrapfinder through democratic votes, ensuring their society remains adaptable in Eryndral’s harsh landscape. Their main industry is steampunk-style technology, powered by Katka stones, producing shard-driven automatons for scavenging and steam-powered airships for trade, their workshops humming with the glow of blue crystals.

Culturally, the Langid celebrate the Festival of the Cog , a

triennial event where they showcase their latest inventions, racing automatons through obstacle courses while sharing tales of their ancestors’ survival in the ruins. They also practice the “First Find” ritual, where young Langid offer their first scavenged item to the community, symbolizing their contribution to the collective, a tradition that reinforces their scavenging heritage and unity amidst the Scraplands’ decay.
