Mokp

Torv Stonebolt and Gorrim Dusktunnel

The Mokp, mole-kin of Eryndral: Shards of Eternity, evolved from moles in the cavernous Mokp Mountains, their fur a blend of black, brown, and grey, perfectly suited for their subterranean life. Speaking Terrak, a language of low, rumbling grunts, they dwell in small huts and houses carved into the cave walls of the mountains, their compact, sturdy homes reflecting their preference for being indoors or underground. Standing short at 4 to 5 feet tall, the Mokp are very tough, their resilience honed by the harsh mountain environment, and they find comfort in the enclosed spaces of their caves. They select leaders, such as Kren Dusktunnel, only in times of great need through a council of elders, prioritizing stability over frequent change in their insular society. Their main industry is mining Katka stones, the glowing blue crystals that power Eryndral’s technology and magic, extracted from deep veins within the mountains and traded as a vital energy source, their expertise ensuring a steady supply for steampunk devices and mystical artifacts.

Culturally, the Mokp celebrate the Deepforge Festival, a biennial event where they gather in the deepest caverns to forge ceremonial tools from Katka stones, honoring their ancestors’ mining legacy with rhythmic chants that echo through the tunnels. They also practice the “Stone Oath,” a ritual where Mokp bind their loyalty to their clan by placing a Katka shard in a communal vault, symbolizing their unbreakable connection to the mountains and each other in Eryndral’s fractured world.
